A name, a date, a line from a song, a Thai phrase you fell in love with on your trip: script tattoos are the pieces people carry closest to their story, and they deserve to be perfect down to the last letter. That is why our studio, right at the end of Khaosan Road, has a simple promise for every script tattoo in Bangkok. Every text in Thai, English or French is checked by our own team before it touches your skin, and every text in any other language is confirmed with you in writing and shown to you on your body before the needle starts. Here is how it works, who does it, and what it costs.

Three languages we check ourselves

Our team reads, writes and speaks Thai, English and French every day, including artists whose first language is Thai. So for those three languages, the spelling, the accents and the tone marks are checked in-house, from your first message to the final stencil.

It makes a real difference for a script piece. Thai in particular is beautiful on skin and easy to get wrong from a translation app, because a single tone mark changes the meaning and the sentence still looks correct to someone who cannot read it. When you arrive with a Thai phrase, our reception reads it back to you, explains what it says, and suggests a more natural wording if needed. The same goes for a French quote or an English line where a comma changes the sense. That conversation happens before any drawing, in the language you are most comfortable with, and it is free. Wikipedia’s article on the Thai script shows how rich the alphabet is; we simply make sure your line uses it correctly.

Any other language: confirmed with you, in writing

For Japanese, Arabic, Hebrew, Korean, Sanskrit or any other script, we work from the exact text you give us and reproduce it faithfully. You confirm it in writing on Instagram, Messenger or email, and that confirmation stays with your booking. It is a small step that guarantees the text on your skin is the one you chose.

We are specialists in drawing letters, and we take your meaning seriously enough not to guess at it. So we ask you to bring the text from a source you trust: a relative who speaks the language, a teacher, an official document, rather than an app. Then we prepare the design, send you a preview, and ask you to reply “confirmed” with the text visible in the same thread. If you change a word, we simply confirm again. When you book, you already send us the five things we need for any tattoo: a short description of the idea, reference photos, a photo of the body area, the approximate size in centimetres and your dates in Bangkok. For a script piece, the text itself is the sixth. The Unicode Consortium’s tables are a handy way to check that characters display the same way on every device, especially for scripts like Arabic where letters change shape depending on their position.

The stencil check: you read it before we ink it

Whatever the language, the text is placed on your skin as a stencil first, photographed, and shown to you in the mirror and on the phone. Alignment, spacing and direction are adjusted while it is still a stencil. The session starts only when you say yes.

This is the moment our lettering artists care about most. Small, delicate script is usually done by Mor, who specialises in fine, minimalist lettering in typewriter, cursive and sans-serif styles, in several languages including native Thai. Large-scale calligraphy, chicano lettering and calligraffiti are the territory of Yhee. Each has a portfolio page on this site, so we will let their work speak there. What they share is the same care at the stencil stage, and it shows: our lettering work won two awards at the Bangkok Tattoo Exhibition 2024, including a first prize for creativity in the black and grey category. One client, Nico, put it simply in his Google review: his artist “was very meticulous and incredibly talented”. That is exactly what a script tattoo needs.

What a script tattoo costs

Calligraphy and lettering start at 1,000 THB. A small fine-line phrase on the wrist is around 1,500 THB. Larger pieces follow our time-based pricing: 1,000 THB in materials per session plus 3,000 THB per hour, with a maximum price agreed before you sit down.

Piece Price Notes
Mini script (a word, a date) from 1,000 THB Materials included
Small fine-line phrase on the wrist or ribs about 1,500 THB Materials included
Medium lettering (forearm, collarbone, several lines) time-based 1,000 THB materials + 3,000 THB per hour, capped in advance
Large calligraphy, chicano lettering, calligraffiti time-based, often several sessions Deposit from 1,000 THB, up to 3,000 THB per planned day for large pieces

Pricing by time is a choice we explained in an earlier article, and script work is where it makes the most sense: a single word can take five minutes or an hour depending on the style, and you should pay for the work you actually get. The maximum is agreed before the session, so there is never a surprise at the end. We accept cash, Wise, Revolut and PromptPay.

Ready when you are

Send us your text, tell us where you would like it and how big, add a photo of the area and your dates in Bangkok, and we will come back to you with what is possible and a price. Whether it is two letters on a finger or a full back in chicano calligraphy, it will be spelled right, placed right and checked with you before the first line. The studio is open every day from noon to 11 pm, right at the end of Khaosan Road.

Frequently asked questions

Can you check my Thai, English or French tattoo text?

Yes. Our team reads and writes all three, including artists whose first language is Thai, and checks spelling, accents and tone marks before the stencil.

What about Japanese, Arabic or other scripts?

We reproduce the exact text you provide and ask you to confirm it in writing before the stencil, so the text on your skin is the one you chose.

Do you translate phrases into Thai?

Yes. Tell us the meaning you want and our Thai-speaking team proposes a natural wording, and reads back any phrase you bring.

How much does a script tattoo cost?

From 1,000 THB for a mini script, about 1,500 THB for a small fine-line phrase on the wrist, then 1,000 THB in materials plus 3,000 THB per hour with a maximum agreed in advance.

Who does lettering at the studio?

Small, delicate script is usually done by Mor; large-scale calligraphy and chicano lettering by Yhee. Both have a portfolio page on this site.

Can I see the text before you tattoo it?

Always. The stencil is placed on your skin and photographed so you can read it, and the session starts only once you have said yes.

What if I want to change a word on the day?

No problem. We update the design and confirm the new text with you again before the stencil.
