What counts as a small tattoo?
Small is a size, not a style: fine-line flowers and leaves, a butterfly on a shoulder blade, a single word in delicate cursive, matching pieces with a best friend or sister, small ornamental designs that sit on the skin like jewellery. Most of it is fine line work, thin, precise needle groupings and a light hand, sometimes finished with soft colour.
Nor is delicate work reserved for women. Plenty of men ask for delicate single-needle pieces; a small tattoo simply favours grace over weight. If your reference board is full of small, airy designs, this is your page.
Who does small tattoos at BKK INK?
Small and fine work is shared by four artists: Mo, who came to tattooing through drawing and manga; Ballin, equally at home in fine line and blackwork; and Jack, our most versatile recent arrival, joined by Mor, whose light hand also serves his minimalist lettering. For colour, Vay, a neo-traditional specialist known for vibrant palettes, turns florals and small pieces into something luminous. For tiny lettering, Mor works typewriter, cursive and clean sans-serif scripts in several languages, and verifies Thai script in native fluency. Our fine-line work took a 3rd prize in Black & Grey New Wave at the Bangkok Tattoo Exhibition 2024.

Small tattoos, same standards
A tiny tattoo gets the full process here, and that is a deliberate choice. In 2009 we became, as far as we know, the first tattoo studio in Thailand to be granted an official licence to practise. We tattoo adults (18+) only, and every piece, however small, ends with the same aftercare kit and instructions.
Touch-ups are free for two years on every tattoo, hands and feet excepted, because skin in those areas reworks any tattoo, from any studio. Delicate lines deserve that guarantee more than anything else we make.
On size, our mini pieces run 1,000 to 2,000 THB and small pieces 2,500 to 7,000 THB, time included. The full pricing guide lists every size band.

How much does a small tattoo cost in Bangkok?
Small tattoo pricing at BKK INK is based on time, with a guaranteed price cap agreed before we start. Small pieces start at 1,000 THB. Longer work is billed at 500 THB per 10 minutes, 3,000 THB per hour, plus a 1,000 THB material fee for full sessions. Even if a session runs longer than estimated, you never pay more than the agreed maximum.
Larger projects are quoted with a fixed cap at your free consultation, and a deposit secures your booking, from 1,000 THB for small pieces up to 3,000 THB per tattoo day for large multi-session work. See the full pricing guide.
Do small tattoos fade faster?
Done properly, no, a small tattoo ages well when the lines are set at the right depth and cared for during healing. You are covered either way: touch-ups are free for two years, except on hands and feet, where skin naturally breaks down any tattoo faster.
Can I walk in for a small tattoo near Khaosan Road?
Yes, the studio is right at the end of Khaosan Road and open daily from 12:00 to 23:00. Small pieces can often be done as walk-ins when an artist is free, but booking a free consultation guarantees your artist and your time, especially in high season.
